The Josaphat Park

Josaphat Park is a popular park in Schaerbeek where greenery, sculptures, events and a few places to eat and drink come together, with culture within walking distance.

Josaphat Park is an important green space in Schaerbeek and is widely used by local residents. The name refers to the Josaphat valley near Jerusalem, because a Brussels resident in the 16th century saw similarities with that place. This is how the park got its biblical name.

The park regularly has something going on. Concerts, walks and activities are organised. Scattered are statues of writers, artists and figures from mythology, including a love fountain. There are pavilions at various spots where you can eat or drink something.

Nearby is Autrique House, the former residence of Eugène Autrique, designed by Victor Horta and today furnished as a museum. If you want something to eat or drink in the neighbourhood, you can go to Boentje, a zero-waste café with homemade dishes, or Bar de la Mule, which serves local beer.
