The Bois de la Cambre is a large park in Brussels, landscaped in the English style, and popular for walking, relaxation and recreation.
The Bois de la Cambre is one of the largest green spaces in the Brussels region and takes its name from the former abbey of Bois de la Cambre. At first glance, it looks like a forest, but it is a park laid out in English landscape style. The area is widely used for walking, jogging or horse riding. For children, there are several playgrounds.
In the middle is the Chalet Robinson, where you can eat something or rent a boat or pedal boat. Those who prefer to stay on land can play petanque there. The chalet is located on Robinson Island. The origin of that name is not entirely clear. According to one story, hikers were once taken there by boat. Nearby, you will also find eateries such as Le Flore, Woodpecker and several restaurants, including Villa Lorraine, Villa in the Sky and Villa Emily. For those looking to go out, there is Jeux d'Hiver, a well-known club in Brussels, among others.
Also nearby are the Villa Empain, an Art Deco house that today serves as a centre for art and dialogue, and the Hippodrome of Boitsfort, a recreational zone around the former racecourse.
