Duden Park
Duden Park is a hilly park in Forest with a wooded past, striking architecture and Union Saint-Gilloise's Joseph Mariën stadium.
Dudenpark is an important green area in Forest and refers to the municipality's forest past. In the Middle Ages, the Heegdebos was located here, which belonged to the Abbey of Forest. In the nineteenth century, the land became the property of Guillaume Duden, a lace merchant. He had a neoclassical house built there and shaped the park with bridges and steps, giving it a distinctly landscaped character.
Today, Duden Castle is home to the INRACI-NARAFI school. At the entrance, striking features include the glass canopy, the former stables with stair tower and the conciergerie in Flemish neo-Renaissance style. In the park are several works of art, including a stone cross and a metal arch by sculptor Mauro Staccioli. At the very bottom is the Joseph Marien Stadium, home of Union Saint-Gilloise, known for its location and protected art-deco facade.
Duden Park connects to Forest Park, to which it is connected via Jupiter Park.
